Plowing Through

I really feel like I’m in the trenches now. 98% of the story is there. There’s not much that will change. It’s now a matter of tweeking and making sure everything comes off properly. This detail oriented thing has never been my strong suit. I’m more of a broad stroke kind of person.

As I’m the second full out revision of the book I find myself glossing over some paragraphs. The paragraphs aren’t bad, but they could be better. I then have to keep reminding myself to edit the work, and not just read it. Still, I think I’ve missed some sections that will need a little tweeking.

I’ve planned a print edit of the work as soon as I’m done with this on screen edit. It would seem that this will be fairly important to make sure all the rough spots are worked out. I don’t want to have any dead spots in the book. This printed edit will also be the first time an outside source has the first major look at the project. They will also be editing as well. So in a few months I should have two marked up edits of the book to work with. From there it should be a proof read of the whole thing, then a final proof and we’re off to publishing.

Currently I’m 58% through this particular edit.
